Picnic Racing

Sunday 26 February

On Sunday 26 February 2012, St Pat’s Race Club Yea winds up the Summer Picnic Racing Season at Yea with another great day of racing & relaxation.

It is our annual event where local people mix with Melbourne folk coming up for a day in the rolling hills of Yea.
Bookings for corporate and private marquees, suitable for 10 people, have been in great demand from people who entertain guests whilst watching the races.  Call Marie Sier on 5797 3099, but be quick!

This year will feature local food products and wines for you to sample, including the best wines from regional vineyards.

For hungry on the run, visit the school Mothers Club B-B-Q and drinks stall.  For those who want a little bit of creature comfort, there will be fine dining in the Club House or alternatively a tasty spit roast in the luncheon marquee.

Three international chefs will be preparing the fine selection for lunch in the Club House:  Jeffrey Tan, Chef De Cuisine of International Premier Foods, Pierrick Boyer, Executive Pastry Chef of Le Petit Gateau, and Peter Schiver, master mind behind Star Anise.

These chefs are known as “the chefs with golden hearts”.  They have raised over $630,000 for various charities, including Prostate Cancer Victoria, Variety Club and the Rotary Foundation Trust.

Their menu will include an array of seafood, suckling pig and a selection of the finest cakes from Le Petit Gateau.
Bookings for clubhouse lunch can be made with James Rattray - 0422 595 333.

We will have our ever popular “Fashions on the Field” together with a best hat prize.
The Fashion Parade is one of our most popular events, with the judges being professional and the cash prizes accepted most gratefully.

For children’s entertainment there are pony rides, animal farm and jumping castle.

While this is all going on there will be a local band entertaining around the field all day.
With the races starting around noon – patrons are encouraged to arrive early to find a shady spot under the trees.
There will be 6 races on the day, - all supported by on course bookmakers & the TAB.

Add to this is a display by two car clubs featuring a James Bond Aston Martin and 1948 era street rods which have been restored by their owners.

For those who thrill in overhead aerobatic displays- we will be visited by Andrew Temby who has won three National and four Victorian Championships and really likes flying upside down!

The annual St Pat’s meeting has become a “must attend” function over the years as it always includes a family day full of innovation and features novelties for young and old.

The weather forecast is for a fine sunny warm day
